Product Description

The world of organizations is no longer defined by national boundaries--and neither are today's successful business leaders. Stay ahead of the curve with INTERNATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR, the proven and respected text that breaks down the conceptual, theoretical, and practical boundaries limiting our ability to understand and work with people in countries and cultures around the world. Adler's hallmark approach views global complexity as neither unpredictable nor random; rather, she demonstrates that variations across cultures and their impacts on organizations follow systematic, predictable patterns. With a blend of substance and readability, INTERNATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR is both authoritative and richly detailed.

missing pages
My book started on page 33, and not page 1. I am completely missing Chapter 1.

TJ Review
The book was received in a timely manner and was in good shape, as stated.

A must-read - especially for Americans!
I bought the first edition of this in 1991 & it is brilliant - and accurate. I have spent much of my career working for US companies that continue to make the most basic mistakes when dealing with "aliens", such as the need to exert power & control, authoritation vs persuasion. One of the basics - which I'd like to see Dr Adler cover - is the assumption that because some other countries also speak English that American behaviours & assumptions apply in those countries. The book also has a secondary advantage that it could be read as a "how to do foreign policy" book for the US, given Gulf 2 issues with say Europe.

Essential reading for anyone that really wants to be global & not just multi-national.

An extraordinary book by a brilliant author
I had the privilege of working closely with Dr. Adler in the early 1970's, when she was a young Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and I was an undergraduate majoring in psychology. Dr. Adler was brilliant and is one of the most influential teachers I ever had. It was obvious she had an extraordinary and successful career ahead of her. After getting my B.A., I deserted psychology for the Yale Law School, and lost contact with Dr. Adler, but I never forgot her. Earlier this year, I discovered a box of my old college papers in storage, including my work with Dr. Adler, and googled her to see what she'd ended up doing with her career. I found this extraordinary book, among many other things. Although essentially a "lay" person not working in this area, I found the book very accessible and fascinating--hardly a surprise. I strongly recommend it.
